Deadline for all entries is 5:00 p.m., August 20, 2016. All exhibits must be in place on the fairgrounds by 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 2.

Please read carefully all rules for open class exhibits. Exhibits in this department are to be brought to the Fairgrounds, by 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2016. Exhibits are to be picked up at the close of the fair between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Articles must not have been exhibited previously at the Belmont County Fair, must be the work of the exhibitor (or a member of his or her immediate family) and must be clean and in good condition. Entries are limited in this department to two entries per class except where listed otherwise.

There are no entry fees in this department but each exhibitor must purchase either a membership or exhibitor ticket. Youth classes are for children ages 5-18 and must be the child’s own work. Exhibitor’s name will be added to entry tag after judging.

PREMIUMS – First – $3.00; Second – $2.00; and Third – $1.00 for all sections unless listed otherwise. A Best of Show Rosette will be awarded the overall winner in each section in addition to placing ribbons and premiums, except in Section 1 where two Best of Show Rosettes will be awarded.

Article must be at least 50 years old. Condition, beauty and rarity are of prime importance and will be considered in the judging. Typewritten or neatly printed cards giving the story of the article(s) will make this of greater interest to the public and will be considered by the judge(s) in making their decisions. Definition—You are a professional if you can answer yes to any of the following items:

Sell your items at craft shows
Sell or display in a boutique or business establishment
Hold a business card
Hold a vendor’s license
Sell for little or no pro it
Teach an organized class

Those meeting the professional status must enter under the Creative or Working Hobby Professional category. Hobby Show entries are to be exhibited in an attractive manner. Space for each exhibit not to exceed 6 square feet (example 2’ X 3’). No limit to the number of items exhibited within the designated space. Arrangement of display to be considered in judge’s decision. Limit of one entry per class. Judging begins at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6. Premiums: First – $6.00; Second – $5.00; Third – $4.00; Fourth – $3.00, and Fifth – $2.00.
